The full form of DNA is Deoxyribonucleic acid. Where Deoxy means lack of an oxygen atom, Ribo means ribose sugar. DNA consists of four bases, which are Thymine(T), Guanine(G), Adenine(A) and Cytosine(C). DNA is a double-stranded molecule held together by weak hydrogen bonds between base pairs of nucleotides.

  1. They carry the genetic information for growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all know living organisms.
  2. DNA produces RNAs.
  3. It transfer genetic information from old cells to new cells.
  4. DNA finger printing is a technique used to identify an individual from his or her DNA.
